Stop flooding us.

Have you heard of 3education.mu? It's a new website/forum where students are supposed to find help or probably worked examples of examinations questions etc... All this is really fine, it's got a nice concept etc... except when you actually get your inbox flooded with 20 e-mails (and I'm not kidding) asking you to join in almost every week. I don't know who chose this marketing strategy but let me tell you it's lame. All feedback you get from students who've received those e-mails is that it's annoying, it's actually seriously annoying.

So I'm writing this post with the hope that the admins of 3education.mu actually search for reactions about their site and stumble on mine. Like this is gonna happen! Duh. But to be on the safe side I've sent them an e-mail asking them to stop being lame.

And there's something else I wanted to say, about how they got my e-mail address, they got it from a lecturer who asked us our e-mail addresses on the first day of his class, then he bored us to death by showing us that he clearly had no idea what he was supposed to talk about, then he brought a friend as a "guest lecturer", the second guy was no better and his english accent was worst. And then paf! the next day we witness the worst case of e-mail flooding from the lecturer on all our inboxes and this has been going on ever since.

The end note of all this on my part is: leave the hell of us all alone and try to give us some free will. If we wanted to join in and participate, the first e-mail would have been sufficient.

First - glad you blogged :)

You rock, flower girl :)

The site is ok - based on Joomla and using ATutor but it just doesn't come any close to Blackboard.

If you attend some uni, you prolly' have access to Blackboard and lots of e-services incl. ones on your phone.

It is not "revolutionary" and I suggest people stay away from this unless you want to get spammed and not be fashionable (Web 2.5+)

Oh my god... Check out the site's footer section:

"$ | Contact US | Wikipedia | Download | Chat with Love Guru $ "

Chat with Love Guru?? What in the blue fuck is this supposed to mean?

And btw, "The First Educational Portal of Mauritius".. Huh every lame-o site in the history of websites-that-should-not-be has used that line.

We don't care if you're first, we just need your content dipshit.

According to the law your lecturer is doing something illegal. He sold or used your email addresses without your permission on a third party mailing list and site. He can be sued for that and that's severely punished as it is the use of personal information over the net. You just gave him your addresses for contact through university or college not through any other means.

Good to see your blog alive again.

jevin, lol, that's greatly said hun! too much of maddox is making you fierce! lol

keli, un bon pti coup de guele de temps en temps sa fait du bien! :P thanks for birthday wishes la.

yashvin, yeah they're trying to promote the site almost everywhere. it's freaky!

kurt avish, thanks. ;)

Sachin, yeah exactly, that information was supposed to be confidential. Think the lecturer takes us for total airheads for not caring about it like he did.

Dude (or dudette) you couldn't have chosen better a name...

I hope morinn is not in fact promoting that website. Hehe. Ok I'm out...

yeah i was hoping that people don't believe that i'm actually promoting the site... would have been lame!

I totally agree with this! They send email which doesnt even concern education (wrote a love letter blabla..)

and one more thign i'd like to point out. They have the email address of all the students of the engeeneering faculty of UOM. And they are using that to promote a website that is in NO WAY affiliated to UOM. This is punishable by law. Using confidential personal information to promote something.

Welll as u said, the educational part is ok, but the spamming part. really makes me dont wana go there..
